$As a child I used to catch lizards at the campsite in France. For me these were \'ordinary\' lizards because I didn\'t know about other species at the time. It later turns out that these ordinary lizards are called true lizards. This family of lizards are known as \'bald\'; they do not have large spines, horns, throat bags or flicking tongues like other families of lizards. The earliest known species were described as early as the eighteenth century, when many tropical species of lizards had never been seen by human eyes. Surely a special \'ordinary\' lizard. The species from this family are spread throughout almost all of Europe and even occur in the Netherlands. The species in the photo (Erhard\'s wall lizard) can only be found in southeastern Europe up to around 2000 meters above sea level.$
